Where to Find Snow
Our property does get snow, but it usually doesn't hang around for more than a couple of days. (This is due to The Ridge receiving loads of southern exposure sun and getting a warm wind in the winter.)
Snow can usually be found around Bass Lake and towards Yosemite. (Scroll down for recommended snow play areas.)
Vehicle Requirements & Considerations
You will need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get around this area during and directly after a storm.
Local requirements (especially in Yosemite) may require you to carry chains even if you have a 4-wheel vehicle.
Fox House & Bear House share a steep driveway. We cannot guarantee the driveways will get plowed at a certain time (if at all, depending on the accumulation). If you are not comfortable driving down, you should be prepared to park your vehicle at the top and walk down.
Keep an Eye on Weather Reports
If a storm is coming in, you should bring provisions and prepare to be homebound until it clears. This is what the locals do as it is the safest for you and the community.
Roads and/or area attractions (including Yosemite) may be closed due to weather or hazards road conditions. (You can use this as an opportunity to cozy up by the fire and enjoy being snowbound.)
Guests are responsible for knowing about the weather and preparing accordingly.
